Business Action Council (BAC)
Uniting the voice of British business to navigate the COVID-19 economic crisis.
Following a direct appeal from the Prime Minister for a unified business response to the pandemic, Maurice Ostro spearheaded the formation of the BAC. It marked a historic milestone: the first time business organizations joined together at such a scale in a spirit of collective, non-competitive action.
Mission & Impact
Its mission was to replace fragmented advocacy with a single, powerful consensus, acting as a strategic partner to HM Government. By uniting major business organizations, the BAC ensured that emergency economic policies were practical and effective for everyone—from global corporations to early-stage entrepreneurs.
The BAC became a primary consultative partner for the UK Government, influencing the design of the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) and ensuring that the voice of 25+ major business bodies reached the Cabinet.
