Strengthening Faith Institutions

Fayre Share Foundation is proud to be partnering with the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and Faiths Forum for London (FFL) in rolling out a nationwide initiative called Strengthening Faith Institutions (SFI).

Stronger and active communities are a vital part of a well-integrated and cohesive nation. Like many local institutions, it’s a priority for faith institutions to strengthen community cohesion in our country, improve integration between people from different backgrounds, and share public services, neighbourhoods, and social networks.

Faith institutions have a unique role in building community cohesion; they provide moral leadership, influence sizeable congregations, handle large budgets, educate children and operate large premises.
SFI aims to provide the tools and training to help these faith organisations face the challenges of today’s society: including engaging with women and young people, sharing best practice and using social media effectively.

Interfaith Relations

The Fayre Share Foundation believes that positive interaction between people of different faiths is crucial both for social harmony and as a means of presenting shared solutions to common challenges. To this end, it works closely with the Council of Christians and Jews and the Faiths Forum for London, among others.

Founded in 1942, the Council of Christians and Jews (CCJ) is the UK’s longest-serving national interfaith organisation, with projects that emphasise and encourage dialogue between people of the Christian and Jewish faiths. The Fayre Share Foundation supports the CCJ as it continues to be a template for successful interfaith relations and shows how both minority and majority faith communities can positively engage and work together.

The Faiths Forum for London(FFL) was created by London’s faith communities with support from the Department for Communities and Local Government, and launched by the Mayor of London in 2010. The FFL is a platform that enables nine of the Capital’s faith communities to work together for a better London. The Fayre Share Foundation supports the FFL’s multilateral approach to addressing London’s challenges, replacing competition with collaboration.

Conflict Resolution

The Fayre Share Foundation supports efforts towards conflict resolution, with a current focus on the Middle East. The Foundation has always taken a balanced approach in addressing the conflict and believes that the best way to achieve this is to work in collaboration with others.

As such it has funded delegations to the region, consisting of several organisations from different backgrounds working together to facilitate dispute resolution. These delegations are multi-award winning and have engaged charities, organisations, and business leaders in supporting peace-building work, either through existing projects or new initiatives.
